STARRING RYAN REYNOLDS
Rhode Island native Chris Sparling's original screenplay, "Buried," is headed for production in Spain this summer, starring actor Ryan Reynolds. Los Angeles, CA – Daily Variety reports that actor Ryan Reynolds will follow up his romantic comedy "The Proposal" by starring in "Buried," a film written by Rhode Island native Chris Sparling. The film is being directed by Rodrigo Cortes, and produced by Peter Safran of The Safran Company and Adrian Guerra of Spain-based Versus Entertainment. The film will begin production at the end of this month in Barcelona. The story centers on a civilian contractor who is taken hostage in Iraq and awakens buried in a coffin in the desert. Sparling, who grew up in North Providence, wrote, produced and co-directed the indie film "An Uzi at the Alamo," which premiered at the Columbus Theater in the summer of 2005 and was later released on HBO.
